Our View: New Economic Order

CEO, Enterprise Greece

No one benefits from an all-out trade war. These last few weeks has thrust Europe – and Greece – into uncharted territory in a new global economic order.
For the European Union, the new U.S. tariff policy marks a significant shift from the economic principles that have shaped modern Europe. Greece remains steadfastly committed to the principles of free trade. Consequently, we will help shape the European response and work tirelessly to mitigate the impact on the Greek economy caused by this disruption in international trade.
As head of Europe’s association of trade promotion agencies, Enterprise Greece is already helping develop new initiatives to promote trade within the bloc and likeminded third countries. And in June, we will host the annual general meeting for Trade Promotion Europe in Athens.
Meanwhile, the European Union is reaching out to other large third-country markets, like the Middle East, India and Indonesia to strengthen commercial relations. Because trade benefits all, and no one benefits from an all-out trade war.
