Our View: Moving Forward

CEO, Enterprise Greece

Greece has undertaken sweeping reforms over the last 10 years and the effort continues.
The government is proceeding with its promised “multidimensional modernization” program that aims to improve economic performance, public sector operations and address some of Greece’s past injustices. In the last month, Parliament passed a new law aimed at clamping down on tax evasion, and a few weeks before that it adopted legislation to improve transparency in public sector hiring.
Next up: an overhaul of the justice system to speed up the judicial process and bring waiting times for court decisions in line with the European average.
Greece has come a long way. It is now one the fastest growing and most competitive economies in Europe. It has reduced its debt burden. It has returned to investment grade. And it is moving forward with its reform program.
