Our View: Extrovert Nation

From agricultural producers to pharmaceutical manufacturers, Greek businesses are increasingly going international. A new culture of extroversion is emerging, manifesting itself in what Greek enterprises grow, make and do.


This June, Greece’s National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives announced it is preparing to launch a new exports initiative. Fresh research shows that Greek goods exports are setting new milestones. And for the first time ever, industries such as energy and biotech are producing things in Greece that are going to consumers abroad.

To be sure, Greece’s traditional strengths in industries like tourism and shipping – long representative of the country’s competitive services sector – remain robust and are growing. But they are increasingly being joined by Greek goods exports that highlight how Greek businesses and the Greek economy are becoming increasingly extroverted.
