As Europe races to secure its energy supplies in the face of market turmoil, Greece is leading the way. By the end of this year, the Greek government projects that the country will have adequate supplies of natural gas and alternatives to weather most any disruption in the energy markets.

Just as importantly, Greece has become a source of stable and secure energy supplies for its neighbors and fellow European Union partners.

Beginning in late 2020, when the Trans Adriatic Pipeline came into operation, Greece became a key link in the EU’s Southern Corridor, channeling natural gas from Azerbaijan to Italy and onwards to Western Europe. This month, the first of several new pipelines has connected Greece with Bulgaria and the Balkans.

In addition to gas arriving by pipeline, new LNG facilities around Greece are bringing in cargoes from around the world. These projects are enhancing security of supply for all.

Greece is well positioned in the race for energy security and has become a trusted partner in Europe’s energy future.
