Greece is embarking on a new and bolder transformation. In the next few weeks, the Greek government will begin detailing proposals for constitutional reforms to ensure the long-term future prosperity of the country.

Among them are constitutional safeguards to ensure fiscal stability. That means enshrining fiscal balance in the constitution with tools to prevent a return to past deficit spending. Other proposals include increased accountability for government ministers, the establishment of private universities, and a system to evaluate public sector employees.

The goal is to strengthen and modernize the country’s institutions to meet contemporary challenges – from Artificial Intelligence to climate change. With more transparency and accountability this will strengthen the trust vested in the state by citizens and businesses.

Ultimately, the result will be an efficient public administration that is insulated from political interference and focused on serving the needs of both ordinary citizens and businesses operating in Greece. And that will make Greece an even better country to live in and to invest in.
