Greek non-oil merchandise exports set new record in 2025, extend export boom

Greek merchandise exports set another record last year, with sales of non-oil products rising to €36.9 billion, further extending the country’s decade-long export boom and underscoring the growing competitiveness of Greek goods in international markets.
According to the latest data from the Hellenic Statistical Service, Greek non-oil exports in 2025 rose 2% from a year earlier – and are up 4.7% from two years ago – despite continuing uncertainty in global trade. Including volatile petroleum products, total exports last year fell 2.8% to €48.6 billion.
By sector, based on an analysis from the Greek Exporters Association, food exports delivered one of the strongest gains, rising 9.4% year over year to €9.04 billion from €8.26 billion in 2024. This was followed by exports of chemicals, which rose 2.7% to €6.31 billion in 2025 from €6.14 billion a year earlier.
Exports of miscellaneous industrial goods rose 4% to €3.84 billion compared with €3.7 billion in 2024, while alcohol & tobacco exports recorded an increase of 7.7% to €1.5 billion from €1.39 billion a year earlier. Other goods exports, not classified by category, rose 4.6% to €149.2 million
“The year 2025 ended amid a highly challenging international environment, with geopolitical tensions, high financing costs and disruptions in trade flows continuing to affect export activity,” said Simeon Diamantidis, President of the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE). “Despite the decrease in total exports on an annual basis, the picture excluding petroleum products highlights the resilience and dynamics of the production base, with an increase of 2.0% and strong performance in food, chemicals and industrial products.”
To further boost Greece’s presence in world markets, the Greek government is expected to announce its first five-year National Extroversion Strategy within the next few weeks. The Strategy will include hundreds of initiatives to enhance the country’s extroversion through 2030, including new, targeted initiatives to support exports, both in existing and in new overseas markets.
About two-thirds of Greek exports go to the other member-states of the European Union. According to the latest data, the EU share of Greek non-oil exports rose slightly last year to 66.0% from 65.1% in 2024, while the share of third countries fell slightly to 34.0% from 34.9% previously.
