Greece’s leading association of marble producers is preparing an international marketing and branding campaign to raise the profile of Greek marble exports, highlighting the country’s growing exports of building materials and services.

The new campaign, which is expected to highlight Greece’s outstanding architectural traditions with the title “Greek Marble”, comes as a record number of Greek construction and building materials companies participated in the Middle East’s leading trade fair this month.

Greek companies have been expanding their presence throughout the Middle East as the region embarks on a series of landmark megaprojects. Among them: this year’s World Expo 2020 in Dubai, the futuristic new city of Neom in Saudi Arabia, the New Administrative Capital in Egypt, and the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Quality Greek building products – such as the country’s famous, heat-reflecting marble or its expertise in lighting design and installation – have long found favor with builders across the region. And in recent years, China has been a major source of demand for select Greek building materials, particularly Greek marble.

The strategy being put together by the Association of Marble Companies of Macedonia-Thrace was developed following consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Enterprise Greece. It “aims to further increase the market share on the world map, as well as the penetration of the Greek marble industry into new developing markets,” the Association said in a statement.
