The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) is responsible for marketing Greece across the globe as a world-class tourism destination, all year-round.

Supported by its 17 offices abroad, GNTO designs and implements effective marketing plans, using modern methods and tools to communicate Greece’s exceptional and diverse tourism offering, enhancing interest and encouraging visitors to explore the whole of Greece. GNTO’s aim is to showcase lesser-known Greek destinations − the hidden gems of Greece − and the inspiring and invigorating lifetime experiences Greece offers.

The tourism sector makes a significant contribution to the Greek economy, accounting for 21% of GDP, and plays an important role in the strength of the economy and in regional development.

However, Greece’s hospitality sector is also resilient and capable of responding to external factors and changes, such as those arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. Early in the pandemic, the Greek government introduced measures to support the industry and implemented health protocols and checks on tourism-related activities to ensure the health and safety of both Greek residents and foreign visitors alike.

This year, Greece kicked off its tourism season early in 2022 in response to strong demand from travelers around the world. The country is delighted to be welcoming tourists again, with GNTO giving priority to ensure quality and authenticity, while at the same time safeguarding Greece’s natural resources and protecting the environment.
